Ideas: I chose to try to portray the innocent joy of connections between children and animals. I wanted to make the painting/emotion of the emotion vibrant by using an impressionist style for the environment and animal

Materials: Graphite pencil to sketch, Oil paint

Processes: I used an underpainting to add vibrancy to the painting and allow the canvas to peek through in the end (to add texture) without being white. I layered oil paint. With this piece, I wanted to practice using oír paint, experimenting with what it can do in regard to texture and color, and blending.

Reference: I used a photo that I took of my younger sister

Master artist: I was inspired by Monet's technique of painting backgrounds. I also focused on conveying texture through lighting by studying the way Berthe Morisot used oil paints
